Foxton Athletic Club.

A general meeting was held in the Racing Club’s office last night. Mr T. Westwood was in the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read from four bands offering their services to play at the sports to be held on Nov. 9th, also from Mr U. Shannon enclosing a copy of the Victorian Athletic Club’s scale of penalties in handicap events. Resolved that engaging of band be left with the secretary to deal with and make all arrangements. Resolved That the secretary write to Mr Shannon thanking him for his letter and recommendations re penalties, and to inform him that this meeting has decided not to try any alterations this year. Proposed by Mr Westwood, seconded by Mr Dunn, That the club join the New Zealand League of Wheelmen. Proposed by Mr Noonan, seconded Mr Robinson, That the programme submitted be adopted. Resolved that the secretary write to Borough asking if they will cover the band rotunda and make it convenient for a secretary’s office or any purpose it may be required for, seeing it is of no use for any other purpose: Resolved that the secretary write to the Marton Advocate, the Feildicg Star, and Palmerston papers re advertising. In addition to previous donations the secretary has received xos 6d from Mr P. Heanessy and ios from Mr J. Symons as Vice Presidents: also a beautiful gold bracelet from Mr Sj Hickso* for the Ladies’ Bracelet. A I vote of thanks to the chair and Racing 1 Club for the use of their office conI eluded the meeting.
