The Shatnrook heeled over at a great angle and left a consider- ■ able wave, but makes scarcely a ripple behind. The Reliance has scarcely any list. ' The result of the measurement of the sail area is considered favourable to the Shamrock. When a syndicate of the owners of the Reliance beard thereof the; were dining at the Waldorf Hotel. There was an immediate fall in Reliance odds. The lowering of the Shamrock’s throat halyard block reduced her sail area, and, consequently, her allowance has been increased to IX7 seconds. Many beta have been mads in New York, at evens, that the Shamrock Wins at least one race. THE RACE ABANDONED. The race has bean abandoned. The first heat was Inconclusive. The course was fifteen miles south and south west, dead to windward, and back. The weather was showery. The Shamrock crossed the line 86 seconds ahead, but at eleven miles the Reliance was fearing by 200 yards and increasing. The wind Was blowing at the rate of six knots and was strengthening. TIME LIMIT EXCEEDED. A private cable message received in Auckland, via the Pacific, states that the yachts started at noon with a three knot breeze, which was fiuky. The latest bulletin from the course state the Reliance is one mile ahead, hut unless the wind freshens the race cannot be finished within the timelimit. A later message states the Reliance is still a mile ahead, but the time limit is up.
