The King in Ireland.
VISIT TO CORK. The King and Queen, after cruising down’ the West Coast of Ireland, visited Cork. King Edward, replying to addresses of welcome,' said the future of Ireland mainly depended upon the development of a spirit of industrial activity. Their Majesties, after visiting the Exhibition, returned to Queemt <wn* and went on board the Royal yacht, which sailed for Spithead at midnight.
A GIFT FROM LORD IVEAGH. Lord Iveagh gave the King £50,000 for distribution among the Dublin hospitals. A FAREWELL MESSAGE. The Mayor and Corporation of Cork heartily welcomed the King and Queen. Their progress through the city was marked by thunderous applause. In a farewell message to the. Irish people their Majesties declared, “ We were deeply touched by the kindness and goodness shown us, and the tokens of loyalty and affection everywhere apparent have produced an enduring impression on our hearts. We are confident that a brighter day is dawning for Ireland. Its realisation depends upon steady development, self-reliance and co-operation, improved education, the growth of industrial and commercial enterprise, and the increase of mutual toleration. Our earnest prayer is that Ireland may be blessed with peace, contentment and prosperity.”
