Foxton Athletic Club.
A general meeting-of the above Club was held last night in the Racing Club ; room last night. There was a good ; attendance, about 25 members being present. - The chair was occupied by Mr R. Noonan. ’ The minutes were read and confirmed. , ~ Correspondence was read from Mr ; Ulic Shannon, accepting the position of handicapper, and thanking the Club j for re-electing him. An election for one vice-president resulted in- Mr A. D. Clemett being elected, and Mr Albert Dudson was > also elected to the Committee. I Mr Ji Matbieson. was re-elected star- 1 ter, and Mr F. Whibley was appointed judge’s clerk. The appointment of a secretary was discussed, and as no one could be found to accept the position, the present secretary agreed to still continue in the meantime. Resolved, That a deputation consisting of Messrs Noonan, Smith, Cook and Martin wait on the Foxton Borough Council re Park tracks. Mr Shadbolt then informed the : meeting that he had one of the largest sheep-in the district, and would have j it on exhibition at his shop from Thurs- j day until Saturday for a guessing com- , petition, the proceeds to go to the . Athletic Club. j Mr E. Dunn offered a prize of 10s j in conjuction with Mr Shadbolt’s offer. j The Club accepted both offers with thanks, and it was decided that the prize be given to the nearest correct guess of the weight of the sheep when , dressed. Donations of the following were also received and offered :—Dr. Bennett, £1 ; Mr A. Reeve, £t is ;Mr E. Dunn, £1 1 os, as a special for Maiden Race ; l Mr E. E. Smith, silver cup, value-£3 | 33 for aggregate points in handicap. | A vote of thanks to the chair and j the Racing Club concluded the meet- j lug. v '
