THE VICTORIA PARK TRACKS.
TO THE editor of the manawatd herald. Sir,-—lt seems strange that the Councillors appear to take very little interest in the improvement of the Victoria cycling and running tracks. As the Athletic Club has to pay 10 per cent on the gate money and members’ tickets surely they are entitled to some consideration in return, without first having to badger the Council on every occasion the tracks are in need of repair. In addition to the above-mentioned fee paid to the G >unoil, the local Club is required to bear a share of the cost of Improving the tracks, while other clubs are allowed the use 6f them without contributing towards the coat of repairs. Considering the benefits which would be derived by the Borough by the increased success of Athletic meetings held here, I think it is reasonable. to expect the Borough Council to keep the track’s in good order. Apologising for encroaching on your valuable space. I am, &c., Uriah Growler. Poxton, Aug. 4th, 1903.
