A Famous Young Lady.
According to a contemporary, Mdlle. Magdeleine Oaaohet, a young £ and pretty Frenchwoman, hailing; from Montmartre, has just returned to Paris and become famous. Four years ago this valiant young lady set out on a tour round the world without a sou in her pocket. "Sha’ travelled through Belgium, GreSt Britain, America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Siberia, Russia, Germany, etc. How did she live in these countries without a sou in her possession ? Well Mdlle. Gauohet gave French lessons, and lectured in the various towns through which she passed. She required no introductions. Equipped with her university diplomas and her knowledge of seven or eight languages, Mdlle, Cauohet found travel both easy, and delightful. She had, we are told, an exceptionally.good time in Australia. There, it appears, she did not require to advertise for pupils, “.they simply rushed upon her and she actually saved money in * Australia.”
