Foxton Racing Club.
A meeting of the Committee was held last night at the Racing Club’s office. Present—Dr Bennett (in the chair), Messrs Jonks, 0. Robinson, W. Barber. J. F. Overend, H. Thynne, J. Symons, E. Smith and A. Laing. ' The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read as follows : From Christchurch -Press Co., in regard to voting a bonus towards the cost of the production of the “ Turf Register;” From J. H. Pollock, re handicapping. From Neylon & Spriggins, offering to work totalisator on same terms as hitherto.—Held over. From Barraud & Abraham, giving quotations for grass seed. Proposed by Mr Overend, seconded by Mr Laing, and carried, That the Club vote a bonus of £2 2a towards the cost of the production of the Turf Register, and that two copies be obtained. Proposed by Mr Barber; seconded by Mr Jenks. That the secretary secure from Barraud and Abraham the grass seed required for racecourse. Carried The applications for the position as caretaker were then opened and after a long discussion, Mr S. Messena was appointed.
