Attempted Murder.

‘What appears to be a case of attempted murder was reported to the Wellington police on Saturday night by a Municipal Fire Brigade man named Alexander Hogg. His story is that while walking down Lower Cubastreet shortly after 8 o’clock he was accosted by a woman, with whom he got into conversation, A few minutes later a man appeared on the scene, and demanded to know what Hogg meant by being with his wife. The man then struck Hogg in the face, knocking him down, and while he was on the ground fired at him with a revolver, the bullet entering his left leg. The man and woman then made off. Hogg was removed to the Hospital. He says he does not know either the man or the woman.
