The Irish Land Bill.
.The House of Commons is considering the Irish Land Bill in commiitee. Mr Redmond’s amendment to abolish the maximum limits of rent reduction, and to extend the minimum to which the Bill restricted the Commissioners, was rejected by 217 votes to 176. A lively debate took place on this '-Crucial question. _ . . Mr Redmond threatened that he Would not consider the Bill as fulfilling hopes or settling the land question. It is rumoured in the lobbies that if he persists in his attitude the Bill is likely to be dropped, inasmuch as It was offered on the understanding that it would be accepted as a ganerOUt attempt to settle the difficulty. Eighty Liberals voted with the Ihihority on the amendment. 1 The Times, commenting on the division, says the result was a foregone conclusion.
