Fitzmaurice Gill Coy.

On Friday night a visit will be paid to Foxton by the above popular dramatic company, who perform in the Public Hall ior one night only, on which occasion they produce Wilson Barrett’s famous play “The Sign of the Cross” by special arrangement with J. C. Williamson, Esq. This company is without a doubt the largest and most talented which we had visiting us for some time, and will na doubt be welcomed here with a large audience. “The Sign of the Cross” is a drama which has been commented on by all the leading writers of the day, who one and all describe it as the play of the century, being the most intellectual and moral production of recent years, and it not only appeals to the regular playgoer but to adherents of all religious denominations. Miss Gill, who will take the leading lady’s part as Mercia, is a well-known actress in the Australasian colonies, and her impersonation of the part is very highly spoken of by the press. With her is associated Mr Chas. Blake, another performer, who has a standing reputation also, and will take the role of Marcus. They are supported by a speciallyiiseleoted cast of twentynine artists, and the scenery, mounting and effects are on an elaborate scale. No expense and pains is spared to make the piece a success. The box plan for Friday night Is now open at Mr Fraser’s stationer’s shop.
