Methodist Social.
The first of the winter socials was held in the Methodist school-room on Wednesday eveningand. was given by Mr and Mrs J. W. Walsh. In spite of the very inclement weather there was a good attendance. His Worship the Mayor presided.. An excellent musical programme was gone, through—the following ladies and taking part :—Mesdames Hunter and Barnard, Misses Osborne, Haywood, Spring, Withers (2), Howan, Purrie and Garbes, and Messrs Bullard,. Westwood, Harris and Robinson. After refreshments had been handed round the Rev. W. Harris moved, and Mr E. Osborne seconded, a hearty vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Walsh and to the ladies and gentlemen who had contributed to the evening’s entertainment, and to Gillander Bros, for the use of the piano. The next social, which will he held a month hence, will be given by Messrs E. and T. Westwood and MrslHunter. 1
