Resignation of the Mayor.

Much regret has heeh expressed at the action of the Mayor in handing in his resignation to the Town Clerk yesterday. This, Mr. Hennessy has found imperative on account of his own affairs, as the extra duty thrown upon the holder of the office by the increased expenditure on the part of the £3OOO loan has made calls upon-C him which he feared he would be unable to do full justice to. It was only on the urging of his many friends that he consented to be nominated for the office, and yielded chiefly to let the burgesses have another opportunity of confirming the action of himself and the Council in raising tlx# much nsedod loan for the town.
