These ahow that Lieuti-Colonel Plunkett w»a UnUbie W retdra when hia force sighted the enemy, and was compelled te fight, in the open, with twelve thousand of the Mttllah'e main army, who unexpectedly appeared. Colehel Plunkett was bit early in the fight, and also received a apoar thjust, but ha feight to lb# and. He finally ordered the remnant of hie force, chiefly men of the Yao tribe, to cut their way to safety through the enemy. They eaceeeded in doing this, but only after coffering further losses. These Yaoa displayed magnificent courage. Many were twice wounded.
