The German press is perturbed and irritated over the statements which Admiral Dewey is have made respecting the navies of the two countries Admiral Dewey has explained to President Roosevelt that he did not intend to say anything which could be constructed into an offence, and h# did not expect his’ off-hand comments to be published.
