♦- A special meeting of the above was held last night at the Library Buildings at 7 30 o’clock. Present-—His Worship the Mayor and- Crs Robinson, Speirs, Walsh, Westwood, Gower and Stiles. Tenders were opened for clearing out drains, as follows: No, 1 Contract (Govt. Drain), about 116 chains—J. McGill, 2s 4d per chain. W. Hooker, 3s 6d No. 2 Contract (No. 2 Line), about 60 chains--W. Hooker, 2s per chain ; «T McGill and F. L. Martin, Is 6d. No. 3 Contract (Patriok-street), about 112 chains —W. Hooker, 2s (Jd per chain. No. 4 Contract (Purcell-street), about 24 chains. —W. HookWr«te per chain. No. 5 Contract (Russell and John-sfcon-street to river), about 64 chains, F. L Martin, 2s per chain; W. Hooker, 2s No. 6 Contract (Avenue and Spring-street), about 68 chains.—F. L Martin, Is 6d per chain; W. Hooker, 2s; J. McGill, Is 6d. Proposed by Cr Westwood, seconded by Cr Robinson, That the following tenders for drains be accepted:—No 1 Contract, J McGill, at 2s 4d; Nos. 2 and 6, F. L. Martin, at Is 6d; No 5, W Hooker, at 2s per chain. It was decided to invite fresh tenders for contracts Nos. 3 and 4.
