Rioting in Trinidad.
The island of Trinidad appears to have been infected with revolutionary ideas from its near neighbour. This is the most southerly <*f the British West India Islands and la only seven miles from the coast of Venezuela, The soil is very richand productive but the olimat is hot and unhealty. The chief town is Port of Spain, and is one of the finest towns in the West Indies, having a population of 33,782. Prom New York a cablegram has been received stating:— ‘ * A crowd having been forbidden to enter the Council Chamber, Port of Spain, to protest against the adoption of a Water Bill, they stoned the windows, and burnt the Government buildings. The police fired on the mob in order to clear the way to escort the Governor of the Council from the building, and several of the mob were killed and others wounded.

The Government buildings were gutted, and the police barracks demaged, The Court documents and other priceless records were destroyed,
