PUBLIC MEETING. AT a meeting of those interested it was unanimously resolved that a Committee be formed to take immediate steps for the formation of a Drainage Board, with a view to providing an overflow channel for the flood waters of the Manawatu River, and to call a Public Meeting at Foxton and at Shannon on Saturday, to further this object. The Committee to consist of Messrs Stevens, Gower, Carter, Davies, Wallace, Stansell, Akers, O’Connor, Drs Newman and Chappie, with power to add to their number. A Public Meeting is hereby called for FRIDAY, March 27tb, at 8 p.m , in the Commercial Room, Whyte’s Hotel, and for SATURDAY, March 28th, at 8 p.m., in the Town Hall, Shannon.
