Feilding Exhibition.
The day draws near when the Feilding Exhibition will be an accomplished fact. What influence it will effect, and the latent developments it will demonstrate in the various branches of industry combined with science, cannot be anticipated except by an intelligent study of the exhibits In the commercial division alone the entries are so numerous that the whole of the available space of one of the temporary buildings (100 x 35) has been called into requisition. The Kaiapoi, Roslyn, and Wellington Woollen Companies are making large displays in this section, while other firms too numerous to mention, will be represented by their exhibits of dairying machinery and utensils, cabinetmaking, saddlery, ironmongery, tools, glassware, pottery, bicycles, footware, etc., and in fact all manufactures typical of the Colony’s industries. Then there will be the machinery, agricultural implements, < vehicles and other exhibits stationed outside of the main buildings in a large enclosure set aside , for the purpose. The whole process of butter-making, starting with milk and concluding with the finished article packed ready for export, the making of lollies, confectionary, etc., and the art of wood carving will all be shown, these exhibits only being quoted as examples in order that the public can realise in seme degree the extent of the undertaking which, after months of hard and serious labour, is now being brought to. a climax by the Feilding Industrial Association. The lighting of the exhibition buildings will be carried out on a brilliant scale, powerful Lucas lamps together with incandescent burners being obtained * specially for the occasion, while the outside exhibits will be illuminated by large arc lamps, i It is a significant feature that the Right Hon. the Premier will open the exhibition on the 24th instant, who in accepting the invitation to do so, has shown a liberal appreciation of the spirit which promotes the encouragement of the Colony’s industries and the educaof the public It is to these ends that the Feilding Industrial Association are directed that judging by the entries which have been received from all parts of the Colony, there can be no doubt that the ultimate issue of the undertaking will be a great success.
