11 ENLISTED, OR THE CHAIN GANG." The apnouncemeat that the popular and powerful Majeroni Dramatic Company will play a return visit here on'Monday evening next has been received by the theatre goers of Foxton and district with every manifestation of delight. The splendid reputation made by the company on their previous visit is still fresh in the memories of those who attended their performances. The management have decided to stage the Splendid military drama “ Enlisted, or * the Chain Gang,” and as it is considered the finest play in the company’s repertoire we can safely predict a record house on Monday evening.' Commenting on the company’s interpretation of this fine play a contemporary says:—The Majeroni Company opened their season at the Theatre Royal last evening with the grand military drama Enlisted, or the Chain Gang,” and judging by the success which attended the opening piece, the company should be assured of crowded houses during their stay is this town. The drama was received with the utmost enthusiasm by a packed audience and the fortunes of the different; characters were followed with keen interest. The company is one" of the strongest combinations that baa visited Christeburohf and every member did full justice to hie or her respective part. From the rising of the curtain the close attention of the audience was held and one and all were very sorry when the play was over. That the play was appreciated by the audience was fully demonstrated by the hearty applause, and the scene in which Mr George Majeroni breaks out of the military prison to rescue the heroine the home fairly rose and cheered this highly gifted young actor. Every ISt in the drama was perfectly played. The scenery was very fine and the mechanical effects were novel. The scenery for “ Enlisted" will arrive to-day in charge of Mr Harley, and will be placed in position under bis direction.. The company will arrive on Monday, and we can safely predict an overflowing house to welcome the bast dramatic company that has ever honoured Foxton with a visit; The company is at present playing to packed and delighted houses in Palmerston North. The doors will be opened at 7.15, and the curtain will rise punctually
