Excursion to Wharangi.

The excursion by river to the Heads (Wharangi) on Sunday last was a most enjoyable euting to those who were so fortunate bo go. The Planet, with a large barge and a number of boats & tow, left the place of embarkation a t the south end of the at 9.30 a.m. The morning v ytt s beautifully fine, and consequently a large number availed *eh« beach, the excursionists being Estimated at nearly two hundred. The run to the beach was very pleasant, the little steamer taking her heavy' load down in a little over three-quarters of an hour. A nice landing was effected on the south side of the river, and a number at once set out on bicycles for the Hydrabad wreck, where a number of Levin and Horowhenua pickniokera were met. Later in the day some ladies also undertook the ride to the wreck, which was easily accomplished in good time. Bathing, fishing, etc., was indulged in, and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. Mrs Bradcock suppKed a first-class dinner and tea, and other refreshments, with numerous fruits, which was most appreciated. The interior of the barge had been «o arranged to seat ad many persons when dining, along table running down the centre, with an awning above, which prevented the sun from being too oppressive, and >ith a light breeze from the sea wr*a all that could be desired. Hot Water was supplied from two copper boilers, which was another great convenience. Mr Peter Robinson paid particular attention to the comfort of his patrons, and everything had been done to make the excursion a pleasant one.
