News has been received that Lieut.-Colonel Morland’s force, which WAS sent'to punish the Emir of Kano for his hostility to the British, occupied Kano on the 3rd inst. after an engagement in which two officers and twelve men were wounded. Three hundred of the enemy were killed The Emir, with a thousand horses’ fled to Sokoto, about five days’ journey to'the westward.
