The King.

HIS MAJESTY’S ILLNESS. Although the King's visit to Chatsworth is' definitely abandoned, it is officially stated that his Majesty is making excellent progress, and that he passed a satisfactory night. REPORT BY SIR FRANCIS LAKING. The King is making splendid progress. ■ ■ ... ... Sir Francis Laking, Physician in Ordinary to his Majesty, reports that the period in which any complication would be likely to occur is already past, and he anticipates an early convalescence. The newspaper “ Lancet” is authorised to state that for a week past the King had not been feeling in his usual health. His Majesty complained on Friday that be was more sensitive to cold than usual. The attack of influenza is slight, and his Majesty is not confined -to his bed, only to his room. The thoughtful message sent by the King and Queen, expressing their regret to the authorities and people of Derbyshire that they were unable to pay the visit to Chatswocth, as arranged, was warmly appreciated.
