Warships in Collision.

While twelve torpedo-boat destroyers, with their lights extinguished, were pursuing the thirdclass cruiser Pioneer, of 2200 tons, 7000 horse-power, in the squadron manoeuvres off the Island of Corfu, the Pioneer cut the destroyer Orwell, ! of 800 tons, in two at the conningtower.

The fore part of the Orwell sank in deep water. The Pioneer towed the after part of the vessel to Corfu. Two of the Orwell’s crew were drowned, and thirteen are missing. Probably they sank in the bow of the wrecked vessel. All the officers were i saved. The torpedo-boat destroyers Teazer i and Starfish, each 270 tons, came; into collision in Portsmouth dockyard. | The Teazer's bows were badly damaged, and those of the Starfish slightly.
