Bulls Bridge

Tha Bulla bridge is now completed and tha painting ia all that is required to be done before it is opened for traffic, The bridge is built just above the old site, and the road leading to it, on the Sandon aide runs throughMr Bull’s property and this saves about three miles. The length is 1570 feet, which is three times aa long as the old bridge, and the width ia 14 feet with one span in the centre a little larger for passing vehicles. There are 12 spans of 125 feet, 3 spans of 20 feet and on# of 10 feet, and 174 iron bark piles have been driven. Considerable difficulty was experienced in driving some of the piles on account of striking papa rock. During the time of building operations there were two big floods, which caused some delay and washed away two spans of staging. The cost of the bridge will be about £16,000 and the structure, standing aa it does well above high water mark, is a very substantial one, and should stand any number of floods. The design was drawn by Mr J. E. Fulton. The contractor, Mr J. Saunders, has made a substantial " job and finished his contract to the entire satisfaction of the engineer. —Advocate.
