In connection with the Coronation Durbar, the Viceroy (Lord Curzon), as Grand Master of the Order of the Star of India and the Order of the Indian Empire, held grand chapters and brilliant investitures in the throneroom of the Great Moguls—the audience hall. This was lighted by electricity, which heightened the effect of the architecture, the display of brilliant costumes and priceless jewels, the well-marshalled processions and the grouping. THANKSGIVING SERVICE. The State service of thanksgiving in the open air was attended by the Viceroy, the Duke and Duchess of Connaught, and representatives of all branches of the public service.
