Foxton Athletic Sports Club.

A meeting of members of the above was held at the Foxton Racing Club’s office on Tuesday evening last, Mr P. Hennessy in the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and adopted. The balance-sheet in connection with )he late sports was presented and read by the Secretary (Mr E. Smith), and on the motion of Mr Westwood, seconded by Mr Cook, the balance-sheet was adopted as read. It was decided that the secretary write to Mr Levett and inform him that the Club would hold over trophy. Proposed by Mr Langley, seconded by Mr Hudson, That Mr Martin get a mao to assist him to have the track jo order, and get tent for secretary of Friendly Societies’ sports on ist Jan., and that he be allowed £x for same. Proposed by Mr Westwood, se* conded by Mr Hamer, That iss be paid to meet expenses incurred at social. Carried. , It was resolved that Mr Noonan’s account be left with the secretary to arrange, Resolved that the nominations for Members' Race to be run at Societies! sports close with the Se£ r '. (ary on Tuesday, ■fk-J^d ;: 0««W!j!u er ‘ and that Messrs Bradcock auo - end be haadicappers for the race. Proposed by Mr Cook, seconded by Mr Westwood, That the secretary write a letter of thanks to ‘Mr R.Armit, for bis services in taking nominations, &0., for the late sports. Carried. Proposed by Mr Shadbolt, seconded by Mr Walsh, That Mr Smith be presented with a present of the value of £$ 33, for his services In connection with the Club;

After several others had spoken in complimentary terms of the large amount of work which the secretary had to do, the motion was unanimously carried.

Mr Smith said he did not accept the position for any monetary gain, but purely as an enthusiast in sport. Ha thanked the members for their remarks and for their present. • On the motion of Mr Walsh, a committee was appointed to select something suitable for the presentation to Mr Smith. /

A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Fred Martin, for duties in connection with, the late sports. A vote of thauk| to the chair concluded the meeting. - •'
