LORD HAWKE’S TEAM.
The members of Lord Hawke’s team, arrived by the San Francisco mail steamer on Tuesday.
The members of the team are : B. T. Bosanquet (Middlesex), C. T. Burnup (Kent), E. M. Dowson (Surrey), F. L. Fane (Essex), S Hargreaves (Warwickshire), P. R. Johnson (Somerset), A. E, Leatham (Gloucester), J. Stanning (Lanca-
shire), T. Y. Taylor (Yorkshire), B. J. Thompson (Northamptonshire), P. F. Warner, captain (Middlesex), AD. Whatman (Eton). With the exception of Thompson and Hargreaves, the team is made up of amatures. The match against Auckland is to take place on Friday, Saturday and Monday next. Mr Warner said he had “ a good team.” “Lots of batting, good fielding, and varied bowling. The five bowlers are, Thompson, Hargreaves, Bosanquftt, Dowson and Burnup. Thompson is a faatiah right-hand and Hargreaves a left* hand bowler. Boaanquet is both fast and slow, and Dowson is slow, In addition to playing for Northampton, Thompson played for the M.C.C.”
