The Leigh-Douglas Company.
The above company will open a brief season of two nights at. the Public Hall on Friday, December; 19th. The piece chosen lor the opening production is the farcical comedy “Jane," a play that has met with unqualified success wherever it has been staged in England and Australia; It is said to be one of the wittiest conceptions of its type, abounding as it does in humourous situations and sparkling with crisp dialogue. It wilt be preceded by the popular and pathetic curtain raiser, “ The Brothers,” a story of love's unselfish sacrifice. On Saturday night Bartley Campbell's emotional and romantic mining drama will be produced, with Mr Harry Douglas as Joe Saunders and Mr Herbert Leigh as Major Brett. The company includes amongst other well-known Aua* tralian artists, Mr Herbert Lelgb, Mr Harry Douglas, Mr J, Goodaii, Mr Janies Martin, Mr J. Devon, Mr A. Goode, Mr H. Jordan, Mr O. liarcourt, Miss Rose Phillips, Miss Dora Mostyn, Mrs Florence Goodaii and Miss Nellie Caultom If we aro to judge by the criticisms of our contemporaries, the company is a strong one, and worthy of the generous patronage of Foxton play-goers.
