The complete returns in the local option poll for Newtown show that no-license has been carried in that electorate by 17 votes. The figures are OodSawnoe H2 Reduction No-licenso *•■ The number 0! valid papers returned were 4984, so that on tte majority pn“«P> B - 2991 votes were required to carry nolicense. This number has been ceeded by 17 votes. 1 1 CHALMERS. The carrying of probiWtiOn id Chalmers will have a curious effect. The Bay View Hotel, in St. Kilda, will be closed, while in other parts or the borough houses are licensed. Tahuna Park ia within the district, and no drink can now .be sold at either the show or at trotting meetings. Two houses on the peninsula will be closed; three hotels in the borough of North-East Valley, adjoining the city, will be closed; the hotel in Ravensbourne, which was closed for some years, will be again closed 5 and in Port Chalmers five hotels will be closed. The Crescent Hotel, Carey s Bay, is just outside the boundary line.
