Parishioners Social.
On Thursday night a Parochial gathering took place in All Saints’schoolroom, it is intended, will henceforth be an annual function. This was a social evening at which no charge was made for admission, all adult members of the chufcli; at this end of the Parish, being’ specially invited to attend. It is intended to have the character of a family gathering. The attendance on the first occasion was nqt so large as was expected This is tobe accounted for, perhaps, partly by the somewhat unusual mode of summoning. But it is confidently anticipated that, on the next like opportunity, the accomodation of the schoolroom will prove too small. The Rev. C. C. Harper, Vicar of Palmerston K, after a few explanatory and introductory remarks by the Vicar of All Saints’, FoxtOn, (the Rev, H. F. Wilson), gave a very helpful and stimulating address Mr Harper had come down at great personal effort, being obliged to return to his parish the same night. This fact was quite appreciated by the audience and helped to give force to his words. The mutual" < duties of Priest and people was the subject chosen; and it was dealt with in a thoroughly practical style and with many living touches that showed that the speaker spoke from an active personal experience.
An interesting and varied musical programme was contributed to by the following ladies and gentlemen : —Mesdames R. H. Barber, A, W. Clemett, John Robinson and W. Cook, Misses Haywood and Cook, and Messrs R. T. Betty, James Mullins, George Barber, W. Hamer
and C. England. The ladies of the sewing bee we're responsible for supper and for the preparation of the room, and, in these important departments, they were, as usual, entirely successful.
