SIR GORDON SPRIGG,
Prior to Mr Malan withdrawing his amendment to the military vote in the Cape Parliament, the Premier (Sir Gordon Sprigg) appealed to the Afrikander Bond to trust him.
The;Hon. J. P. Sauer, one of the leaders of the Bond, explained that he had previously thought it was the intention of the Government to arm one section against the other. Sir Gordon Sprigg, after the vote thanked the Bond for its generosity. SOMALILAND. The decision not to employ Boers in the Somaliland expedition has caused great disappointment in Johannesburg. AN APPEAL. The “ Standard’s ” Brussels correspondent says that the Boer Generals will try to obtain an allowance for Mr Kruger, a whole or partial amnesty for Cape rebels, especially those at Bermuda, and permission for the ex-peace delegates, Messrs Fischer, Wessels and Wolmarans, to return to South Africa,
Enormous tracts of land are being offered for sale in the Orange River Colony. Farms of a total area of 44,000 morgen will shortly be submitted to auction.
