Volunteer Notes.
On Thursday evening there was a good muster of the Foxton Rifles on parade, under the command of Sergt.-Major Peacock, the Govt. Instructor.
The whole evening was spent in instructing the company in manual exercise and other different movements, which have come into force with the new course of drill.
At a meeting cf the Shooting Committee held in connection with the corps, last night, the following members were picked to represent
the corps in the match with the ex-volunteers on Wednesday next: — Lance-Corporals Betty, Hurley and Rand, Privates Clarke, Morgan, Ball and F. Honker. Emergency — Private Nye. It was decided to compete for Mr W. Gray’s gold medal on Boxing Day. Nominations, which were fixed at Is, to close on 18th Dec. The conditions to be 10 shots at 800 yards. The committee decided to fire all competitions under the rules of the N.Z.R.A. unless otherwise specified.
