At 3 o’clock p.m. Macdonald, wilson and co. are favoured with instruct ons from Mr J. R. Stansell to sail by public auction aa above— TWENTY-ONE OF THE FINEST BUILDING SECTIONS IN '1 HE TOWN OF SHANNON, being the subdivision of Suburban Sections Nos. 611, 612, 618; 614, 615, and 616 ou the plan of the town. Each of these sections has an average frontage to the principal streets of Shannon of 50ft by a depth of 230 ft, and contain practically an area of over one quarter of an acre each. The sections are situated close to the Shannon railway station and opposite the State school, and from thsir central position they cannot be surpassed as residents! and business sites. The town of Shannon has long been known as one of the soundest and most prosperous of the admirable settlements along the line of the Wellington and Mannwata Company’s Railway. Shannon is, however, only in its infancy. The progressive developments which are now about to take place will give it a _ commanding position and assist in making it the county town of the district. The recent purchase ef the Makerua I Swamp—an area of 18,000 acres—by a wealthy syndicate and the large capital the syndicate company is about to expend in [ systematic draining and fitting the land for close settlement will in itself revolutionise the conditions of trad* in Shannon. In addition to this important factor three new fiaxmilis and a new sawmill are about to be erected. These mills will expend fully £2OOO par month in wages. A branch bank is to be established forthwith and several new businesses created, all adding wealth and importance to the town of Shannon, and making it, for business purposes, one of tho best tewns'on the West Cob it of the North Island. A vast improvement is about to be effected in connection with the roads of the district leading to and from the town of Shannon. A bridge is about to be erected at tho Shannon Ferry—an immense been to the Foxton residents. The Ofcarua stream is to be bridged at .once, thus joining Nathan-terraoe with the main road to the Makerua Synd cate’s land. These changes alone wi : l, within twelve months, increase the passenger traffic fu ly one hundred percent. The diversion of the flood waters of the river Manawatu is now tho subject of seri ous discussion amongst the residents of the j town of Shannon. Financial arrangements of an ‘. xtensive character will prol bahy be made so ae to enable from 100,000 j io 160,600 acres of tho low-lying land bei tween Ksrera and Longburn to be thorj auvbly drained. The vast importance of this great work, which may well bft-afr. girded as national work, to the towAlno district of Shannon has only to be mentioned to be understood by those best aoquair -ed with the Manawatu dialrlet. As a small investment the purchase of one or more of these twenty one valuable building sections will prove of the most satisfactory character. The sections will grow in value every year and prove a capital nest-egg. The terras are for each section—£s deposit, £5 in one mouth, £6 in three months, £5 in six months, £5 In twelve months, balance in three years—interest 6 per cent, per annum.
