On THURSDAY, 23rd OCTOBER, 1902, At 3 o’clock p.m. Macdonald, wilson and co. are favoured with instruct ons from Mr J. R. Stansell to sell by public auction aa above— TWENTY-ONE OP THE FINEST BUILDING SECTIONS IN THE TOWN OF SHANNON, kin; the subdivision of Suburban Sections Nos. 611, Gl2, 013. 61-1, 615, and CIO on the plan of the town. Each of the s’ sections has an average frontage to the principal streets of Shannon of 50ft by a depth of 230 ft, and contain practically un area of over one quarter of an acre each. The sections are situated close to the Shannon railway station and opposite the State school, and from their central position they cannot be surpassed as residental and business sites. The town of Shannon has long been known as one of the soundest and most prosperous of the admirable settlements along the line of the Wellington and Manawatu Company’s Railway. Shannon is, however, only in its infancy. The progressive developments which are now about to take place wid give it a _ commanding position and assist in making it the county town of the district. The recent purchase of the Makerua Swamp-—an area of 13,000 acres—by a wealthy syndicate and the large capital the synd cate company is about to expend in systematic draining and fitting the land for close settlement will in itself revolutionise tho conditions of trade in Shannon. In addition to this important factor three new flaxmills and a new sawmill are about to be erected. These mills will expend fully £2OOO per month in wages. A branch bank is to be established forthwith and several new businesses created, all adding wealth and importance to tho town of Shannon, and making it, iVr busine"S purposes, ?us of the best tnwii-s on the West Co;st of the Noilii Island. A vast improvement is about to be effected- in connection with the roaclc of the district leading ia and from Ins town of Shannon. A bridge is about to be erech’d at the Shannon Ferry—an Immense boon to the Foxton residents. The Otarna stream is to be bridged at ,01100, thus joining Nathan-terrace with the main road to tha Makerua Synd cate’s land. Those changes alone wi 1, within twelve months, increase the passenger traffic fu ly one hundred per cent. The diversion of the flood waters of the river Manawatu is now 'he subject of seri ous discussion amongst the residents of the town of Shannon. Financial arrangements of an extensive character wil pr - bab y be made so as to enable from 100,000 to 150,050 acres of the low-lying land between Kereru and Longburn to be thoroughly drained. The vast importance of this great work, which may well be regarded as national work, to the town and district of Shannon has only to be mentioned to be umbr.-tood by those best acquainted with the Manawatu district. As a small investment the purchase of one or more of these twenty one valuable building sections will prove of the most satisfactory character. The sections will grow in value every year and prove a capital neat-egg. Th > terms are for each section—£s deposit, £5 in one month, £6 in three months, £5 in six months, £5 in twelve month--, balance in three years —{merest 5 per cenu per annum.
