On THURSDAY, 23rd OCTOBER, 1902, At 3 o'clock p.m. Macdonald, wilson and co. are favoured with instructions from i Mr J. R. Stansell to sell by public auction a* above— TWENTY-ONE OF THE FINEST BUILDING SECTIONS IN iHE TOWN OF SHANNON, being the subdivision of Suburban Sections Noa. 611, 612, 613, 614, 615, and 616 on the plan of the tows. Each of these sections has an average frontage to the principal streets of Shannon of 60ft by a depth of 230 ft, and contain practically an area of over one quarter of an acre each. The sections are situated close to the Shannon railway station and opposite the State school, and from their central position they cannot be surpassed as residental and business sites. The town of Shannon has long keen known as one of the soundest and most prosperous of the admirable settlements al-,ng the line of the Wellington and Manawatu Company’s Railway. Shannon is, however, only in its infancy. The progressive developments which are now about to take place will give it a commanding position and assist in making it the county town of the district. The recent purchase of the Makerua Swamp—an area of 18,000 acres—hy a [ wealthy syndicate and the large capital the ■ syndicate company is about to expend in systematic draining and fitting the land for close settlement will in itself revolutionise the conditions of trade in Shannon. In addition to this important factor three new flaimiils and a new sawmill are about to be erected. These mills will expend fallv £2OOO per month in wages. A branen bank is to be established forthwith and several new businesses created, all adding ■ wealth and importance to the town of Shannon, and making it, for business purpose,".. one of the beat towns on the West ! Coast si the North Island. I A vast improvement is about to be af- ■ feefod in connection with the roads of the district leading to and from the town of Shannon. A bridge is about te be erected at the Shannon Ferry—an immense loon to the Foxten residents. The Otarua stream is to be bridged at thus jain- : ing Nathan-terrape with the main road to .the Makerua Syndcate's land. These | changes alone wi 1, within twelve months, i increase the passenger traffic fu.ly one - hundred pec cent, The diversion of the flood waters of the river Manawatu is now the subject of seri oua discussion amongst the residents of the town of Shannon. Financial arrange- ; ments of an extensive character wil probob y bo made eo as to enable from 100,000 to 150.000 acres of the low-lying land be- ; tween Kereru and Longbura to be thor- ‘ oughly drained. The vast importance of v this great work, which may well be re garded as national work, to the town and district of Shannon has only to be mentioned to be understood by those best acquainted with the Manawatu district. As a small investment the purchase of one or more of these twenty on * valuable building sections will prove of the moat satisfactory character. The section* will grow in value every year and prove a oapi- . tal nest-egg.
