Robinson Crusoe’s Island.
The little'island of Juan Fernandez, home of Robinson Crusoe, the hero of oar childhood, has recently become of some commercial importance as the centre of a valuable, if prosaic, industry. This island, situated in the Southern Pacific and about 15 miles long and eight miles wide, has a very good natural' harbour. It belongs to Cbili, and, Under the patronage of the Government, a large building has recently been erected for the preserving of fish, lobsters, and crabs, which are said to be not only very abundant but also of excellent quality. Seals, we fancy, did not enter into the economy of Nature when Crusoe ruled the island; but it appears that the skins of a kind of seal which abounds in Juan Fernandez, meet with a good market in Valparaiso.
