Messrs Abraham and Williams report as follows: At Palmerston on Thursday a full yarding of cattle came forward. The attendance was fair and we made a good clearance, although the demand for steers was not equal to recent sales. The demand for springing heifers and empty heifers was keen, one particularly nice line of springing heifers selling from £6 10s to £y 6s; a line of good forward bullocks made £8 8s; 4-yr bullocks, £j ; 3 and 3i yr bullocks £6 43 fid; 2-yr steers, £$ to £5 4s ; iB-months steers, £3 18s; yearling steers, £2 15s to £3; weaners, 30s to £2 gs; small weaners, 22s to 275; yearlings, £3 53; yearling and 18months heifers, £3 123 fid ; good forward cows, £5 ; light, lat heifers, /.5 ns; springing cows, £5 10s to £y. Only a small entry of sheep came forward, consisting mostly of hoggets, for which there was little demand. Buyers now evidently are hanging back until the shorn sheep begin to come in. One line of fat and forward wethers made 14s yd ; ewes and lambs, 14s gd ; forward ewes and wethers, xos.
