PROTESTS AGAINST BOV' COTTING.
A committee representing the loyalists of Paarl asked the Governor for protection against boycotting and other oppressions. The Governor replied that the responsibility rested with the Ministry, Sir Gordon Sprigg (Premier) said he was trying to reconcile the people and obliterate racial distinctions.
Sir Gordon Sprigg snubbed the Paarl loyalists for parading their loyalty. He said he did not consider there was the slightest necessity for farther legislation in regard to sedition or relelative to traffic in arms and ammunition. The loyalists retired indignant. GATHERING OF NATIVES AT PRETORIA. Four hundred chiefs attended an indaba at Pretoria, and quietly heard the proclamation that the natives mast surrender their arms and ammunition. It is hoped that trouble will be averted. THANKS TO COLONIAL TROOPS.
In the Cape Legislative Assembly, Dr Smartt’s resolution thanking and eulogising the colonial troops was carried unanimously. Mr De Waal moved for the appointment of a committee to inquire i-go the conduct of the Afrikander Be kl during the war. Ha declared that IqL Bond had done everything possible (no prevent rebellion, and was ready to cooperate towards federation under the British flag. f
