Irish Brigade Flag Found.
The flag of the and Irish Brigade, which “ Col.” Lynch commanded, has found its way to Kingston-on-Thames. It was presented this week to the mayor by a soldier just returned from South Africa. In the Boer colours, and bearing the name of the brigade,
the flag has also on it the "words. *iFor, Liberty fl and “ Remember ’98,” in re* ference to the Irish rebellion of that year. The flag was found under dramatic circumstances, wrapped round (he dead body of a member of the brigade. Pinned to it was the fly-leaf oi a Bible on which was written in blood “ Send this flag to Dublin, and pray for the soul of Patrick Mooney. Good? bye.” Sewn into the flag Was an old bullet with a piece of paper, on which was written ; “ This bullet was taken from the dead body of an Irish patriot who died tor his country in 1798, named Patrick O’More. The soldier who found the flag was killed in action later, but a comrade, at bis request, brought them to Kingston.
