Foxton Borough Council.

The ordinary monthly meeting was held last night at 7.30 o’clock. Present —His Worship the Mayor (Cr Hennessy), and Crs J. Symons, W. Robinson, B. Gower, Alex. Speirs, J. W. Walsh and S. Baker. The minutes of the previous meet* ings (ordinary and special), were read and confirmed. Inward and outward correspondence was read. Proposed by Cr Robinson, seconded by Cr Gower, That this Council regrets the resignation of Councillor Purcell, but at the same time hopes the change will be to his advantage, and the clerk send a copy of this resolution to him. Carried. Proposed by Cr Symons, seconded by Cr Speirs, That the overseer be instructed to have fdotpath round Mr Osborne’s premises put in order. Carried. Accounts amounting to, £8g 12s nd were passed for payment. The overseer’s report was adopted as read. Proposed by Cr Speirs, seconded by Cr Symons, That fifteen casks of tar be obtained from Wellington Gas Company for footpaths. Carried. Proposed by Cr Walsh, seconded by Cr Speirs, That the lamp post at the windmill be removed to a more suitable position, as the light is not visible from the Avenue, and it is very wet for the public to post letters in the box. Carried. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Walsh, That the Reserves Committee be requested to have racing track in Victoria Park covered to a depth of two inches with clay. Carried. Proposed by Cr Gower, seconded by Cr Baker, That” the overseer ask Mr Spring to go with him and point out where he covered the sand holes with gorse in front of Mrs White's property on the Motoa Road. Carried. Proposed by Cr Baker, seconded!by Cr Gower, That the ranger be inalructed to attend to the cattle and horses straying on the streets at night. Proposed by. Cr Baker, seconded by Cr Gower, That Messrs Symons Bros, be allowed to cut the flax at 53 per ton on Wirokino Road. Carried.
