Mount Kembla.

It is understood that the official search of the Mount Kembla mine disclosed the cause and the place of the explosion, but the officials refuse to supply information. Thirty-four of the victims have left widows, and a hundred and twenty-two children are orphaned. Several of those rescued are in a bad way, and it is probable that two of them will succumb to their injuries. The Premier has received a message of condolence over the Mount Kembla disaster from Mr Seddon, and also a message from the editor of the “Otago Daily Times,” stating that be had started a subscription list, and asking if outside assistance .was necessary. gtir John See replied that any money contributed would be gratefully received, but pointing out that an Act of Parliament provided for the payment of eight shillings per week to each widow and half a orown to each child. No farther bodies were recovered at Mount Kembla on Tuesday. An official inspection of the mine is proceeding.
