Foxton Sports and Athletic Club.

A Committee meeting of the above Club was held last evening at ‘ $ Mr W. Gray’s Post Office Hotel. ■ x His Worship the Mayor (Mr P. ; , E i Henneasy), occupied the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence read included favorable replies from the president p and several vice-presidents accepting positions with enclosed dona,tions; Mr UJic Shannon also wrote ,i| accepting the position of handicapper. Mr MacDermott, the treasurer to the Club handed in his resignation, ;• he having been transferred from this district to Waimate. . Mr S. Rickard moved that Mr . ' MacDermott’s resignation be ac- 1: cepted with very much regret, as he. would undoubtedly be of great loss

to the Club. Mr W. Cook, in seconding the .■ ig motion, also referred to’ the great loss the Club would sustain through his removal, Mr MacDermott, in the course,of a few remarks, wished the Club every success. An election for treasurer and joint : trustee in conjunction with Mr J. W. Walsh then took place, MrJ. G, Walshe being unanimously elected. Discussion then took place in connection. with the track, and it W&P decided to accept Mr A. Langley’s offer to provide material and Mr P. Martin’s offer to put same down be accepted with thanks. Proposed by Mr W. Cook, second-' . ed by Mr J. Mathieson, that the secretaries be empowered to employ labour to weed the track. Carried. The secretaries gave in their report as to their interview with the Amateur Athletic Club at Palmerston North, and At was mentioned that so far they could not see their way clear to forego their sportsmeeting on the 10th November, which was rather unfortunate for ■ both. It was therefore decided to take no further action in the matter.' It was resolved that the guessing competition for Mr M. Perreaifs clock take place, and that Mr MaoDermott fill the bottle with peas and seal same before leaving the district. ■ Mr A.
