The New Hebrides.

The steamer Mambare, which took the pioneer party of Australian settlors to the New Hebrides, and is returning to Sydney, has tilled at Norfolk Island. ‘ ■'

Three out of the fourteen settlers are returning. The others, after an exhaustive inspection, were landed at the island of Santo, where each selected 500 acres of coastal lands. The soil is described as very rich, and especially suited to maize, sugar, and copra cultivation. Two of the party were so satisfied with the prospects that they had sent for their fiimilies. The Presbyterian mis.sionaries at the islands were cordially co operating with the settlers.
