Funeral of the Late Mr C. T. Austin.
- Yesterday afternoon the late Mr Charles T. Austin was laid to rest at the cemetery. Mr E. P. Osborne had the conduct of the arrangements. The* respect shown to'the deceased was from all classes, the flaxmills being all closed and settlers from around attended to show their sympathy to the family and esteem for the deceased. When the procession left the house for the cemetery there must have been fully two hundred persons present, and close on seventy followed the hearse on foot, whilst the number of vehicles and horsemen were large. The employees of the. deceased's mill were the pall bearers and a number of relatives from Wellington, Palmerston and Feiidlng aise attended. The Rev. W. Harris headed the f ßecession and conducted the service n an impressive manner both in the shelter shed in the cemetery and at the grave side. A large number of wreaths were received, amongst them being a memorial wreath from the employees of the Aorangl mill, from the Mayor and Borough Council, and from Messrs Gamrpan and Co.
