The Dinners to the Poor.

The Princess of Wales accompanied the Prince on a visit to the dinner parties of the poor. The children of Paddington, of all creeds, have presented the Prince of Wales’s heir with a gold replica of the cup which was given to each guest at the King’s dinner to the poor.

Tne King has sent another letter to the Lord Mayor, expressing gratification that no accident or other drawback occurred in connection with the dinners given to the poor. His Majesty states that the success of the affair was largely duo to the foresight and energy of the organisers, whom he warmly thanks, and also the artists who gave their services in entertaining.

His Majesty adds: “I am deeply touched at the loyal and kind feeling so universally displayed, and at the hundreds of telegrams of thanks and good wishes from every district where the dinners were given.” The Queen has telegraphed to President Roosevelt that the King is most grateful for his kind sympathy. It is officially announced that the departure of Colonial and Indian Contingents has been postponed until further orders are issued.
