Foxton Borough Council.
The -ordinary monthly meeting oj the above Council was held at the Library Buildings last night 7.30 p-m. Present—His Worship the Mayor (Gr Hentiessy), Crs T. Westwood, W. Purcell, A. Speirs, S. H. Baker, A. C. Baker, and W. Robinson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
Correspondence inwards and out--wards was read. Proposed by Cr Westwood, seconded by Cr Purcell, That a special meeting of the Council be held on the 30th inst. for the purpose of discussing the Health Officer’s report, and that -the Town Clerk gather information as to the method adopted in using the earth pas system. Carried. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded, by Cr Purcell, That Mr D.AVhibley be asked to clean out the drain on the same terms as former years. Carried. - ' Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Gr Westwood, That this Council agree to the terms of Mr S. Ennis" (Bandmaster) letter re Council taking over instruments and uniforms, and that the Clerk wait on the band and take possession of the Instruments and uniforms. Carried; / ( , ~ Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Purcell, That Cr Westwood be appointed to sign cheques. Carried. Proposed by Cr Westwood, seconded by Cr Spiirs, That the Reserves Committee report at next meeting on the advisability of removing or trimming the trees in Victoria Park. Carried. Proposes by Cr S. Baker, seconded by Cr A. Baker, That a deputation, consisting oi the Mayor and Crs Robinson, Gower and Purcell be authoized to proceed to Wellington and together with Mr John Stevens interview Sir J. G. Ward re loans to small boroughs for road-making purposes, and that the town clerk while in Wellington be asked to arrange for above interview. Carried. Proposed by Cr Purcell, seconded •by Cr Robinson, That Cr Westwood's name be added to the Reserves Committee. Carried. Proposed by Cr Purcell, secondedby Cr Robinson, That tenders be called for roofing the library with iron. Tenders to be in by the 15th inst. Carried. Proposed by Cr Purcell, seconded by Cr Robinson, That the reports and accounts be passed as read. Carried. Proposed by the Mayors seconded by Cr Speirs, That 15 trucks of metal be ordered from Palmerston for the various roads. Carried.
