The Kenniffs.
CAPTURED AT LAST. A telegram from Mitchell announces capture of the Kenniffs. The Kenniffs stole a bag of wheat from a selection near Mitchell. A party of four police, with a couple of black trackers, traced them to the scrub. The brothers were surprised in camp before sunrise. The police shot two out of four of the Kenniffs horses. Pat was unarmed, but Jimmy had two loaded rifles. The fugitives bolted, and the police fired on them. Pat feil unhit, and was captured. Jimmy escaped to the scrub. As the police were returning with their prisoner Jimmy was again seen. The police kept up a running fire and ran him to bay and ordered him to surrender. He agreed to do so if Pat was not shot, adding, “ I am tired of this life.” On being assured that Pat was-all right, Jimmy quietly gave up his rifles and surrendered. The Kenniffs’ camp was well stocked with ammunition and food.
