IN MEMORIAM.
Smith. —In loving memory of Harriet Smith, who died at Foxton June 24th, 1901, aged 24 years. (Interred in Foxton Cemetery.) Oh for a touch of the hand that is gone, A sound of the voice that is stilled; The face we loved, it now lies’low, The toad true heart is stilled ; The hand that often clasped in ours Lies low in death’s cold chill. Oh silent grave ! to thfee we trust This precious part of earthly dust, Guard it safely, sacred tomb, Till I, her mother, ask for room. None knew how sad the parting, Nor what the farewell cost, But God and his loved angels Who’ve gained what we have lost. Gone from our home, .but not from our love! Gone to our Father’s home above Gone from a world of sorrow and pain; Lord help us in Heaven to meet her again. > Inserted by her loving mother, husband and children.
