The Member for Galway.
ARREST ON A CHARGE OF TREASON. Mr Arthur Lynch, who commanded an Irish brigade which fought on the side of the liners in the early stages of the war, and who was subsequently elected M.P. tor Galway, was arrested at Victoria Station on his arrival from Paris, and taken to Bow street Police Station. Lynch has been remanded. In the House of Commons Mr Kelly asked whether Lynch had not a burgher’s right of surrender ? Mr Balfour replied that Lynch was not a burgher. Mr McNeill asked, “Is it not Ministers’ bonnden duty to communicate to the House the fact of a member’s arrest ?" . The Speaker replied that it was not bonnden on Ministers, but it syas the usual practice to write informing the Speaker. Mr John Redmond gave notice to ask whether the Government was extending to Lynch the same terms of surrender as to Cape Dutch.
