Manawatu County Council.
The following is the remainder of the business transacted at nesday’s meeting of the ManawatU; _ County Council: —
POUND. Resolved, That the neoessa??'' shelter and notice board be pro*,| vided and fixed at the pounds in Rongotea and Sanson, and that |he Council appoint a poundkeeper and.,j ranger for Rongetea and a poundkeeper for Sanson at next meeting. TRACTION ENGINE TRAFFIC.. The Council decided to allow Mr Carl Anderson to adopt a suggestion made by him to prevent the reads being cut up by the traction engine, which is to have the back axle of his l:J waggons made longer so that wheels will go outside the , track-£ made by the engine, no greater 10ad,..* than 2 J tons to be carried in each waggon. It was also decided to quest the Rongotea Butter Factory Directors to have firewood, etc.,; #® carted by vehicles having tires not less than 4 inches. . ' MISCELLANEOUS. * £ ’ Notice was given of the intention’ of striking the following separate 4 rates; —3-16thd in the £ Sandon, * l-6thd Waitohi, l-sthd Rongotea, . l-16thd Carnarvon, l-Bthd Kawa* Kawa, l-4thd Awahou. Such rate to become due and payable at the County offices, Sanson, August Ist, 1902.
The increase in wages asked for by the engine driver was riot granted. The Council decided to prohibit 1 ,*, flax carters from carrying greater,*,, loads than two tons. It was also decided to contribute £lO to Rongotea and Sandon in aid of the Coronation and Peace celebrations if the Government agree to *', subsidise £1 for £l. L
Cr Clarke was appointed to »p- ... pear at the Licensing meeting Marton on Friday nest to object to ; the granting of a license being issued for a hotel at Rongotea. It was decided to endeavour to . purchase two acres of land from Mr Hunter on the Feilding-Awahurl’ road for a gravel pit. The Council adjourned till 16th „ _ July.—Standard.
